A New Chapter of Grace and Gratitude
A New Chapter of Grace and Gratitude
Fiona Choi (’03 S4)

My name is Fiona and I left Ying Wa during F4 in 2003 for my studies in Sydney. I then returned to Hong Kong after completing my university education in 2010. In February this year, I moved back to Sydney with Beige, my beloved corgi. I’d like to share all the graces I’ve experienced during this time.
A Home That Ticks Every Box
When I arrived in Sydney, I braced myself for the usual housing hunt, weeks, if not months, of searching and compromise. Instead, less than three weeks later, I finalised the purchase of an apartment that ticked every single box on my list. No stairs from the entrance, yet not on the ground or top floor, a kitchen with gas cooktop and ample storage, windows with open views, a bathtub, no hidden maintenance issues, two bedrooms, a small entryway to take off shoes, nearby parks, and good security. Ten out of ten, no compromise. In a city where housing often requires trade-offs, this felt nothing short of a miracle, and I’m deeply grateful to God for such a smooth start.
A Perfectly Timed Car Purchase
The surprises didn’t end with the apartment. On the very same day my Hong Kong driving licence was successfully transferred to a local one, I ordered and paid for a brand-new car, without having to wait at all, even though the usual delivery time is six to eight months. It wasn’t just any car, but the exact model and colour I had been hoping for. The timing and alignment of it all felt so perfect that I couldn’t help but see it as another blessing in this season of new beginnings.
Beige’s Seamless Adaptation
Of course, this move wouldn’t be complete without mentioning Beige, my beloved companion. She adapted to life here the moment she stepped out of quarantine, even though she had to stay longer than expected. At least she ate well, slept well and gained weight there. She even asked the staff for pats and massage. From staying at my brother’s place in Melbourne before the move, to adapting life in Sydney and staying at different accommodations during our family trip, she handled every change with calm resilience and everyone’s so proud of her!
Reconnecting with Dear Friends

One of the unexpected joys of settling back has been reconnecting with some dear friends from my Ying Wa days. Being able to meet familiar faces in a new chapter of life has brought warmth, laughter, and a comforting sense of home.
Looking Ahead with Gratitude
These first weeks have been marked by open doors, perfect timing, and a deep sense of peace. From finding the perfect home to securing the perfect car, meeting old friends, and watching Beige flourish in her new surroundings, I have felt God’s provision at every step.
Here’s to this new chapter, one filled with growth, grace, and gratitude.
