Thanksgiving Walk 2024: A Day of Connection and Gratitude

On Saturday, 16 November 2024, YWGSAA UK-London Chapter held its much-anticipated annual Thanksgiving Walk at the scenic St James’s Park, London. Inspired by the school’s cherished Thanksgiving Walk tradition in Hong Kong, this event brought together alumnae and their families for a heart-warming day of reconnection and reflection.

Blessed with pleasant weather – chilly but mercifully rain-free – the walk was a delightful escape from the city’s hustle and bustle. Alumnae strolled along the park’s picturesque pathways, surrounded by autumnal hues and the serene charm of swans gliding across the lake. It was a perfect opportunity to catch up with old friends, share laughter, and soak in the fresh air. Adding to the camaraderie, several alumnae brought along their partners and children, turning the walk into a joyous family outing. The presence of younger voices and playful energy only enriched the day’s spirit, making it an occasion to cherish for all generations.

However, the day was not without its challenges. Our group had a close encounter with opportunistic thieves. Thankfully, the group’s alertness foiled their attempt, which made this a symbolic reminder of the importance of looking out for one another. Despite the ordeal, the experience fortified our bond as a community, adding a unique chapter to this year's Thanksgiving Walk narrative. As we wrapped up the walk, the enduring sense of gratitude and togetherness underscored the spirit of Thanksgiving. The event was a testament to the strength of the Ying Wa alumnae network and its ability to turn every moment – be it idyllic or unexpected – into an opportunity for growth and connection. We look forward to continuing this beautiful tradition and welcoming even more alumnae to future gatherings!
