Miss Josephine Chong Shuk Ching
Dr Josephine Chong (莊淑貞校友), S5 graduate of 1995, was selected as one of the Ten Outstanding Young Persons in 2018. She was accredited as one of the five first fellows of Genomic & Genetics Paediatrics subspecialty by Hong Kong College of Paediatricians. Currently, Dr. Chong works as a clinical professional consultant in the Department of Paediatrics and Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology of CUHK. [ article ]

Mrs KOON WOO Kam-oi, Agnes and Professor CHIU Lai-har, Rebecca
Mrs Koon (管胡金愛校友) and Professor Chiu (趙麗霞校友) were awarded the Medal of Honour (MH) on 1 July 2017. [ 2017 Honours List ]
Mrs KOON, graduate of 1972 (S7), was awarded the MH for her dedicated public and community service, particularly her contributions to the insurance industry, women's organisations and corruption preventive education work.
Professor CHIU, graduate of 1974, was awarded the MH for her dedicated public service, particularly her contributions to the country parks management and environmental impact assessment.
Miss Bow Sui May
Ms Bow (鮑瑞美校友), graduated in 1954, has been instrumental in the development of special education, and in particular, the education of children with hearing impairments - initially in Hong Kong, and subsequently in Mainland China as well. In recognition of her contributions to Hong Kong society and education, the Hong Kong University has resolved to confer upon her the degree of Doctor of Social Sciences in March 2017. [ Details ]
Miss Vivian Ip
Miss Vivian Ip (葉詠媛校友) was appointed as one of The Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra's Assistant Conductors starting in the 2016/17 season. She will work alongside the orchestra’s guest conductors, observing rehearsals, acting as a potential cover conductor, and conducting the HK Phil’s education and outreach concerts. [ Press Release ]
Mrs SO Chau Yim-ping
Mrs. SO Chau Yim-ping (蘇周艷屏), YW alumna, was conferred Honorary University Fellowship by the Baptist University on 8 September 2015. She also published a book 踏峰而行 (another character with the mountain on top) in February 2016. [ HKBU e-News ] [ eyes on HKBU ]
Mrs Ruth Lee Shek Yuk Yu
Mrs Ruth Lee Shek Yuk Yu (石玉如女士), 7th principal of YWGS and graduate of 1972, was awarded as Justice of the Peace (JP) by the HKSAR with effect from 1 September 2015 in recognition of her outstanding service to the society. The news was released in the press on 1 July 2015.
Miss Fanny Gong (Tong Kwai Fun)
Fanny was elected to the College of Fellows of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) in January 2014. Election to the AIA fellowship recognises the achievements of architects as individuals as well as their significant contribution to archtecture and society on a national level.
Fanny had previously designed and built numerous award winning high-rise buildings as a partner of a major international architectural firm. She was also the Global Corporate Archituree at Citibank for almost 10 years. She is currently a Campus Architect at the Columbia University and oversees the design of the new 17-acre, 17-building and $7 billion Manhattanville campus for the University.
In March 2015, Fanny was recognised with a Women Builders Council 2015 Outstanding Woment Award. [ article ] [ photo ]
Miss Avvy Yao-yao Go
Avvy (吳瑤瑤校友) won the most prestiged Order of Ontario (安省勳章). She is a respected lawyer, who uses her law degree to advance the rights of Toronto's marginalized communities. She has built coalitions across different communities on issues of anti-racism, human rights and equity and most recently co-founded the "Colour of Poverty Campaign". Miss Cheung Yuen Ting Mabel
The University of Hong Kong presented the Honorary University Fellowship to Mabel on 14 September 2010 in recognition of her contribution to the University as well as the whole community. [ more ]
In Feb 2010, "Echoes of the Rainbow (歲月神偷)", directed by Alex Law and produced by Mabel Cheung (張婉婷校友) , won the Crystal Bear for the Best Feature Film in the Generation section of the 60th Berlinale 2010. It was the first time that a Hong Kong film wins the award. [ press release ]
Mabel is the creative director of the 2nd DVD on YW Heritage released on 27 March 2010.
Mr Mak Chai Kwong
Mr Mak (麥齊光校友) , graduate of 1970 (S7), was awarded the Gold Bauhinia Star (金紫荊星章) in recognition of his loyal and committed service to the Government and the Hong Kong community. In particular, he has made valuable contribution in the area of public works. Mr Mak retired as the Permanent Secretary for Development (Works) after serving 34 years with the Government. Mrs Wong Yung Siu Yau Eugenia
Eugenia (容小柔校友), graduate of 1972, was awarded the Hong Kong Immigration Service Medal for Meritorious Service (香港入境事務榮譽獎章) for her exemplary and devoted service in the Immigration Department. She retired as a Chief Immigration Officer after serving in the Department for over 32 years. [ 2010 Honours List ]
Miss Lee Siu Ling Brenda
Brenda (李小玲校友), graduate of 1976, was awarded the Chief Executive's Commendation for Government/Public Service (行政長官公共服務獎狀). She joined the Government Information Service (now Information Service Department) afer graduation from HKU, and has since worked in a number of policy bureaus and departments. She is currently Chief Information Officer of he Leisure and Cultural Services Department. [ 2010 Honours List ]
Prof Selina Siu Wong Sau Fong & Mrs Patricia Chu Yeung Pak Yu

Professor Ngan Yuen Sheung Hextan
Hextan (顏婉嫦校友), graduate of 1971, was inaugurated to endowed professorship in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, HKU, on 13 April 2010.
Endowed Professorships at HKU are created to provide perpetual support to areas of academic excellence. It is also a privileged honour bestowed upon distinguished academics.
Dr Chan Lam Lai Bing Alison
Proud to announce that in Oct 2009 Dr Lam (林麗冰校友) was named one of the 43 Distinguished Alumni of the Science Faculty of HKU for her contributions to the community. [ details ] [ press release ]
Alison is a very active member in YW. She is the Chairperson of the School Council, one of the Advisors of the YWGS Alumnae Association, a trustee of YWGSAA Charity Trust Fund and a member of the Alumnae Choir.
Miss Wong Ming Yan Christina
Christina (汪明欣校友), graduate of 1999, was awarded "Ten Outstanding Young Persons (十大傑出青年)" by the Junior Chamber International Hong Kong (JCIHK) on 5 Oct 2008.

Miss Ho Lo Tak Ruth
Ruth (校友) was awarded the noble tiltle of Marchioness by the Spanish Royal family in 2006 for her active involvement in voluntary services for many years in Hong Kong, the Mainland and other places in the world. Her work in the Lions clubs are reputable and has earned great respect. She is also a Knight of the Order of the Templars of Germany. [ photo ]
Miss Lau Siu Cheong Phyllis
Phyllis (劉兆璋校友), graduate of 1981, was one of the Ten Outstanding Warriors in 2006 (第十屆香港十大再生勇士) awarded by the Regeneration Society. She used to work in the entertainment business.

Rev Lee Ching Chee
Rev Lee (李清詞牧師) was nominated for the 1000 Women for the Nobel Peace Prize 2005. She was one of the 108 nominees from China Region (Mainland, Taiwan & HK) and one of the 9 nominees from HK. [ message ]
Rev Lee is an alumna of YW. Moreover, she was a teacher, pastor, Vice-Principal (1972-1977) and School Council Supervisor (1985-1998). [ photo ]
Prof Deborah D. L. Chung
Prof Chung (鍾端玲校友) of University at Buffalo, State University of New York, was the recipient of the Charles E. Pettinos Award given at Carbon 2004 (International Conference on Carbon), held in Providence, Rhode Island on July 11-16, 2004. The Pettinos award, sponsored by the American Carbon Society, is an international award given triennially to a person or a group in recognition of recent outstanding research accomplishments in the field of carbon science and technology.
Deborah graduated from Ying Wa in 1969. She is the author of several books. [ Bk ]
