Vancouver Chapter’s Second Quarterly Meeting
Vancouver Chapter’s Second Quarterly Meeting
Joey Lam (林祖誼)(’14)
We had our second quarterly meeting of 2022 on 24 June (Friday), and were delighted to have our Principal and three Vice Principals joining us that night. Close to 30 alumnae, across North America, took part in our gathering.
Thanks to the online meeting technology, we would still be able to catch up with one another amid the unstable COVID situation. We could even have the opportunity to chat with Mr Kwan Hon Cheung (Principal), Mr Cho Kong Sang, Miss Chow Siu Fung and Miss Chau Chui Shan (Vice Principals) who gave us the most current updates of our “See Mui”.
Lucky Draw
The highlight of the evening was the “Lucky Draw”. We prepared two gifts for the alumnae which were the publications about the school redevelopment project and celebration of our 110th Anniversary respectively. We are thrilled to share this blessing with Esther Chiu (’61) and Alice Fung (’83).
Thank God for His Love & Guidance
From all the sharing on that Friday night, we keep reminding ourselves how lucky we are as God for sure showers His love and guidance on us, and the Ying Wa community. Our meetings usually overrun as we have too much to share but too little time. We are indeed extremely blessed to have the ever-growing connection in our group. We look forward to seeing many more new faces in the future.
Support Group for Newcomers
As we are expecting a lot more new faces coming to Vancouver for work or study, we have formed a support group for newcomers. We all went through the challenging period of settling down, and we believe we could make that easier by offering what we have. Currently, we can offer help about legal/tax advice, looking for houses/churches or as simple as carpooling. We are building the group so that we could take better care of our new members. The contact person is Mrs Audrey Yeung (audreywsyeung@gmail.com).
Joint Activity in August 2022
Meanwhile, we, the Vancouver Chapter, are getting back on track for physical gathering. We organized a cruise trip in August with the Ying Wa College Old Boys' Association here in Vancouver. Both committees were extraordinarily excited about this event as it was the first meet-up event for us since the outbreak of COVID. We thank God for our close relationship with the Ying Wa boys, and together we preserve the name of the Ying Wa family.
